Help
Clinician review
IncludedA clinician interprets your exome and blood-test results.
Live consultation
IncludedA physician or nurse practitioner discusses your exome results in an annual appointment lasting about 30 minutes.
Messaging about results
IncludedYou can message a clinician without a usage limit after your results arrive.
AI assistant
IncludedDaNA answers general educational questions without access to your results.
Getting tested
Register the saliva kit in your 23andMe account, collect at home and use the supplied return mailer. Total Health also includes separate Quest blood visits.
Preparing for your test
- Saliva preparation
- No food, drink, smoking, gum, tooth brushing or mouthwash for 30 minutes before collection.

Reviews
What people praise
Discovering family connections
Customers enjoy finding relatives and exploring their ancestry, including making family connections or filling in parts of their background they did not previously know.
A simple testing process
Positive reviews describe a manageable kit process and results that are easy to browse, making it straightforward to start exploring their ancestry and traits.
More to explore over time
Reviewers enjoy returning to genetic updates and new ancestry details, finding that reports and family connections give them more to explore after their first results.
What people complain about
More features behind subscriptions
Some customers dislike repeated upgrade prompts or discovering that tools they expected to use, including previously available features, now require another payment.
Login and account support problems
Customers describe password or account-access problems that keep them from their results, with support exchanges that do not always lead to a prompt resolution.
Family-tree tools can be limiting
Some ancestry customers find family-tree tools confusing or limited, struggling to understand how DNA matches connect or wanting better ways to explore those relationships.
Things to know
- Cancel renewal before the next billing period.
Access continues until the paid period ends. Basic reports remain after premium access ends; clinical medical records remain accessible.
- The selected plan renews annually.
The first year is included in the purchase; renewal and clinical-service terms follow the selected plan.
- Research and matching are separate choices.
Research participation, relative sharing and sample storage are optional choices. Deletion has legal record-retention exceptions.
- Age and state rules depend on the tier.
Total Health requires eligible partner-lab visits as well as the registered saliva sample.

How does Total Health differ from Premium?
Premium uses selected-variant genotyping for ancestry and genetic-health reports. Total Health adds clinical exome reports, blood testing and clinician support.
Does this sequence my whole genome?
No. Premium uses selected-variant genotyping. Total adds exome sequencing with a defined clinical report set, not whole-genome sequencing.
Can I download my DNA data?
Download your genotype data as a TXT file in ZIP. Raw sequencing-data download is also available.
Can I get a refund?
For unused direct-purchase kits, request within 30 days of order before sending saliva, and return the kit within 30 days of the request. Deductions may apply; partial membership periods are not refunded.
Are both blood panels the same?
No. Baseline includes lipid panel, CMP, CBC, HbA1c, TSH, Lp(a) and ApoB. Follow-up lists lipid panel, CMP, CBC and HbA1c.
