Stories

Laura Osman

Acting on an unexpected cancer-risk result

Laura had no known family history of breast or ovarian cancer when 23andMe flagged a BRCA1 variant. After clinical follow-up testing, she discussed her options with doctors and chose preventive surgery, taking action before a cancer diagnosis.

Lillian had been struggling with severe muscle pain while taking a statin. Her 23andMe medication report gave her new information to discuss with her doctor, who lowered her dose; she reported managing her cholesterol without the same debilitating pain.

FAQs

Does this sequence my whole genome?

No. Premium uses selected-variant genotyping.

Can I download my DNA data?

A raw genotype text file is available in a ZIP. This is not a whole-genome file.

Can I get a refund?

For unused direct-purchase kits, request within 30 days of order before sending saliva, and return the kit within 30 days of the request. Deductions may apply; partial membership periods are not refunded.
